barcelona, may 20th

So today we woke up in a nice cool room in Barcelona. Our air conditioning seems to work a little bit better here than the other places. We got up and immediately went down to get breakfast which was lovely. The jams here are amazing! Anyhow after breakfast we decided to relax a bit since it seems like we just keep going and going. So we napped read and watched a bit TV. We set out in the afternoon and headed to the pac de la ciutadella. Our hotel is nicely placed off the main walking street called La Rambla. There are so many people walking around, and there are just as many street shops and cafes. Once we got the park we were trying to find the cable cars to ride over the port so that we could get a good view of the city, but the cable cars were packed so full of people that we decided to not take the ride. We walked down to the port and toke a picture of the Columbus monument, and took a seat to watch these guys doing acrobatic gymnastics in this grassy in front of the monument. After that we headed to the famous Barcelona Cathedral which is suppose to be beautiful from the outside. Well we got there and it was under construction, so we just got to see the inside. We were afraid of this, because we were watching the news in Madrid, and they had said since there is such a water shortage is Barcelona they are having a hard time with tourists. So I guess they are taking this time to reconstruct a lot of their historical buildings. Just our luck! Also the most famous fountain in Barcelona isn’t running, so that was a bummer too! But we decide to go check out these two building designed by Gaudi in 1900 and 1905. He was a architect severely ahead of this time. He designed these two building that are so modern its nuts! They are called the La Pedrera, and Casa Batllo. We didn’t go in either because the entrance fees were 30 euros, which is $45 a person! We might go tomorrow if we really feel like it! Anyhow after walking around for 6 hours we decided to head back to the hotel and finish watching a movie that we started last night. There was only a half hour left so after it was done we headed out to get dinner. We found this grocery store right next to the hotel and went in to get some snacks and drinks. Boy, the grocery stores are much cheaper than the restaurants! We got some dinner and no we are relaxing in the hotel room planning out what we are going to do tomorrow. Goodnight everyone!
